What Is Dragon Fruit?

Dragon fruits or called with Pitaya also come from Mexico, and is now developing to other country such as  China, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, and also be found in Israel, and northern Australia .

Skin dragon fruit is red light and the skin have layer so that the shell-like serpent or dragon with a large size is greater than apple fruit with color of content is white, red, or purple with sowing seeds of black, with a taste like kiwi fruit

There are four kinds of dragon fruits as below

  • Hylocereus undatus, a red fruit with white pulp
  • Hylocereus polyrhizus, a pink fruit with red pulp and
  • Selenicereus megalanthus fruit with yellow skin and white flesh fruit
  • Hylocereus costaricensis, dragon fruit red meat super.

In Vietnam and the Chinese fruit is considered a blessing. Therefore, the dragonfruit is always placed in between the two tails green dragon statue on the altar table. Red fruit is so light in color between the dragons-the green dragon. This is the fruit of habits among the people of Vietnam, known as Loy thang (dragon fruit)

Nutrition and benefit dragon fruit
Dragon fruit contains vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, beta carotene, calcium, protein, fat, and carbohydrate in the amount sufficient to increase the resistance the body, neutralize poisons in the blood and increase the power of vision and to prevent hypertension

Dragon fruit also contain fiber as a high-oxygen bond carcinogen cause cancer and accelerate the process of digestion in which this fiber will binding bile acids, which is the end product is issued with cholesterol to feces. Thus, the higher consumption of fiber, the more bile acids and fat issued by the body

Dragon fruit can also lower the cholesterol level, blood sugar balance, strengthen the kidney function and bone, oral health protective, preventive bleeding, and improve the working brain. Consume dragon fruit regularly can make your body more healthy and protected from various types of diseases that kill

    Thank you for establishing this wonderful article on the Dragon fruit. I have acid reflux and I am wondering if the dragon fruit is acidic. Or would eating dragon fruit contributes to add acids and interfere with the problem?

    Hi Herah,

    Dragon fruit containing some acid in it, and if you have a problem with acid-related health, and you want to eat regularly or in large quantities of food that is estimated to have acid in it, then you better consult a doctor to get results maximum and no problems on your body, hope it helps
